            A Mother's Story

Camp Pee Dee has had a powerful impact on my family!

At least one of my four children has attended Camp Pee Dee for the last 5 years. This summer will mark the 3rd year all four will have attended.

My oldest will be returning this summer as a camp counselor. His decision to apply for this position was solely based on the positive and uplifting experiences he has had over the years at Camp Pee Dee.

My second to oldest child NEVER wanted to stay away from home; however, a few years ago in his early teens, I enrolled him in camp. Begrudgingly, he attended with the promise he could come home mid-week when I picked up his youngest brother from mini-camp.

When I arrived, the child whose anxiety of being away from home almost overcame him was having the time of his life! He was building new relationships with a cabin of boys he just met, growing in confidence and having fun while growing in faith! Needless to say, he stayed the entire week and has been ready to return to every Camp Pee Dee opportunity.

Seeing my children after a week of camp, I knew something good was happening within them.

Thankfully, I had the opportunity to volunteer for a week to lead Bible study last summer. I was able to see firsthand all of the campers connect: they connected with each other, they connected with their counselors and they connected with God. It was a safe place for them to talk openly about their faith. My heart melted seeing these children in the midst of strengthening and developing their beliefs. I am so incredibly grateful for the opportunity I was given to witness it all.

When my children come home each summer, they come home with a new sense of understanding their faith. They come home with an increased understanding of what it means to be a child of God. They come home with new bonds formed with children and counselors that are on the same faith journey as them. They come home with a confidence that is sometimes hard to find at school. Most importantly, they come home with a stronger relationship with God. I am so thankful that Camp Pee Dee has been a light in their path.

            With deepest gratitude and appreciation,
